Our new flock sire: Olive Branch Sequoia! Here he is yesterday, shortly after arriving, waiting to be introduced to his new girlfriends. They were excited to meet him and he, them. 

Sequoia's buddy Anubis is here as well. That way Sequoia will have someone to hang out when he needs to get away from the girls.

Entered six fleeces in the Southern Adirondack Fiber Festival. Each one earned a blue ribbon. Charlotte's white fleece received a Best in Class and so did Madeline's moorit fleece with Madeline coming away with Champion Fleece!

The official close of our 2012 lambing season came on April 23rd with the birth of twins for first time mother Olivia. One ewe lamb and one ram lamb, one black and one brown. That brings the lamb total for the season to fourteen! Everyone is doing great. The grass is green and they are all out on pasture doing their part to keep the grass mowed. Let the lamb frolics begin!

As of today, all of the ewes have lambed except Olivia. On April 9th, Idona had twin ram lambs, one black and one brown. Later that same day Blackie gave birth to a single brown ewe lamb. On the 15th, Indra had twin ewe lambs, one brown and one black. The following day Annabelle added the only white lamb so far this year. Annabelle's ram lamb has one brown spot making him our first "spotted" lamb. On the 17th Olana had twin ram lambs with fun markings, one brown with speckled white ears and one black with white speckling throughout. And on the 19th, Izzy gave birth to a brown ewe lamb,

The barn is completed and filled with hay for the winter.

On Monday evening, Olana gave birth to a white ewe lamb and this morning, Izzy had twins. Izzy's twins are both girls and they are almost the spitting image of Poe's two ewe lambs, both black, one with a little white on its head. These should be the final lambs. Olivia is still a question, but she's a yearling and we don't think she's pregnant.

So, assuming this is the final count... We have a total of 8 lambs this season, 6 ewes and 2 rams.

Everyone is still in the paddock waiting for the grass to green up. But the snow is all gone and the rainy season is here so it won't be long before the grass starts growing. When our neighbors start spending their evenings on their ride around mowers, we'll be sitting in our lawn chairs watching the lambs running around, jumping in the air.
